Life is tough. When we are faced with loss or disappointment, we may temporarily lose hope. We may plan to get from point A to point Z, but we may get stuck at point Y. When we think that everything is going smoothly, we may suddenly be faced with new obstacles. The key is to pause, step back, and reassess our options.

Life is not predictable. We have to be ready to act. Our response to unpredictability, especially negative situations, will determine whether or not we will be able to get back on our feet and continue towards our goals. Don't let the obstacles of today interfere with your overall progress.

What do you need to do if you are struggling to deal with a tough situation?

1) Look at the big picture.

When we look at the big picture and put things in perspective, the obstacle does not look insurmountable. Reassure yourself that no problem is too big for you to handle.

2) Take a break in order to gather your thoughts.

Don't jump to conclusions and don't try to solve the problem immediately. While thinking about the issue, pause. Quietude will help you sort your thoughts.

3) Edit your plans.

If the obstacle blocks your momentum, it may be time to edit your plans. Come up with a winning strategy that will allow you to deal with the obstacle and maintain a level of success at the same time.

4) Solve the problem.

If possible, fix the issue that you are facing. Since you have given yourself time to think through the problem and update your plans, you are now able to work on mitigating or removing the obstacle.

5) Continue your journey.

After solving the problem, it is time to move forward. Don't dwell on the past. You are ready to build your momentum again. Keep your goals in mind and focus on what matters.
