Relieve some of the stress that is associated with the beginning of the week by including the following tips into your Monday routine.

1) Update your to-do list.

It is time to get organized! Putting things in order helps us feel more relaxed. Whether you use a notebook and pen to jot down your list or you log your notes into your phone, make sure to remind yourself of items that you need to accomplish by the end of Friday.

2) Reach out to at least one social media contact.

Choose at least one person from your social media accounts and write him or her a message. Say "Hello!" It only takes a few minutes to re-establish connections and to catch up with valued contacts. Keep your circles strong.

3) Call a friend.

We often think that Monday is a day for work only. However, a five to ten minute chat with a friend can be just what you need to refresh your mind. Laughter and some real talk can help you get through the day. Calling a friend can keep you grounded even as the day becomes hectic and the demands on your time begin to increase.

4) Set up Friday lunches with colleagues.

It is time to grab your calendar. We all look forward to Friday, right? Well, add a lunch with a colleague to your schedule. We can better handle Mondays when we have something to look forward to later in the week. A Friday lunch can be the perfect time to strengthen your workplace connections.

5) Work it out!

You may feel overwhelmed on Mondays due to the responsibilities that weigh on your mind. Just remember that your workout doesn't have to last more than 15 minutes. Some exercise is better than no exercise. Whether you run to the gym before work, during lunch, or after work, or you squeeze in some cardio and strength training at home, a workout session can be the perfect opportunity to relieve stress and stay in shape.

6) Prepare or order a "Wow Meal."

Fuel up. Eat a dinner that is flavorful and makes you happy. Whether it is a bowl of well-seasoned vegetable soup with a sesame seed roll or red wine infused spaghetti, treat yourself. You've had a long day. Make your Monday meal memorable.

7) Read something inspirational.

Take a few pages from an inspirational book and highlight sentences that help to uplift you. Tab pages that are especially relevant to your current situation. Use the words to ignite your purpose and confirm your passion. Reading helps to give us ideas, challenge our perceptions, and expand our horizons.

8) Meditate.

Breathe deeply. If you start the week uptight, you'll only compound the stress that is inevitable as you go from day to day. You have everything you need to succeed this week. Feel your strength and confidence increase. Shake off anything that does not serve your need for balance. Meditate for a few minutes to prepare to take on tomorrow's obstacles.
