When we think about the past, we are greeted by good and bad memories, but the negative recollections are the ones that can have a stalling effect on our lives. Instead of using our experiences as a platform for growth, we sometimes tie our worth to the worst chapters in our story. The most difficult days of our past are often given our attention and emotional energy. In the wake of this focus, the present is ignored and dreams for the future are forgotten.
There is a difference between being graced by the joyful memories of yesteryear and mulling over conflicts that have come and gone. Give yourself a break. Allow yourself to sort through your thoughts and actively decide to carry the best and most loving reflections with you as you fill your present with hope, gratitude, and good intentions.
A setback is the foundation for your comeback. The past is filled with setbacks, but guess what? You are here now. You made it through every storm and you will make it through many more. The past has taught you how to be a champion. Apply a winning mindset to the present and future.
The past doesn't need you. It will be okay and so will you.
